Connecting Conversations

Tamara Rojo
Dance lovers will be offered a unique insight into the work of acclaimed ballerina Tamara Rojo in Connecting Conversations.

Rojo, who trained in Madrid and is currently principal ballerina at The Royal Ballet, is renowned for her outstanding technique, captivating acting skills, and brilliant artistry. She will talk to psychoanalyst Luis Rodríguez de la Sierra about the psychological themes within contemporary and classical ballet, as well as discussing her career and the challenging roles she has performed.

She says, "A dancer never reaches a limit. It would be like saying that someone has reached his limit as a human being. We are in constant evolution and, therefore, I still have many things to achieve."

Rojo is one of many high-profile women from creative disciplines to have featured in Connecting Conversations, an ongoing programme of discussion events that brings together psychoanalysis and other fields. The series aims to make connections between ideas, disciplines and individuals and offers a fascinating perspective on the creative process.

Produced by north London-based charity The Rowan Arts Project with a range of partners from the psychoanalytic and academic world, its refreshingly intimate and intelligent discussions have been growing in popularity with both audiences and speakers, and, since its establishment in 2006, the series has been steadily attracting high-profile guests from a range of arts fields.

Recordings of the discussions are made freely available through its website, creating a rich archive of interviews with leading women in the arts and creative professions, including authors Esther Freud, Lisa Appignanesi, Gillian Slovo, Lionel Shriver and Kate Grenville, film director Penny Woolcock, playwright Diane Samuels and theatre director Carrie Cracknell.
